Sit-Test

After the bookout from the fieldcamp, that sunday when book in i have to prepare for my 3 Days Sit Test, 10 days of outfield in a row.. Its was damn tired and body was aching all over..

Before the Sit-Test we do a 12km route march to our campsite.. After doing the 8km route march earlier on, 12km route march was nothing.. During the Sit-Test, i was assigned to detail Golf.. My Post was a LAW Gunner, basically the one who shot down a tank.. The LAW was heavy and its weight 6.3Kg.. Every morning 4km and 2km fast march, my buddy bion and me have to carry it whereever we go.. By the time the sit-test start, both of our hands are numb and we can't feel a thing.

During the sit-test, i was task as 2IC for both my mission.. My first mission was to clear a minefield, we use our bayonet to poke the ground to look for land mine buried underneath the ground.. Clearing halfway, one of my Mine clearer was snipe down by sniper.. I was stun, then i give a all angle cover position.. I immediately asked my medics to attend to the injure buddy and prepare for evacuate from the ground.. We carry him with a stretcher due to he was the bigger guy in our group, we were all tired out by the time we carry him to safe location.. My IC, Thomas, from platoon 2 attend for the manpower needed to carry the casulty while i do the safety cover for my group.. The mission was a success..

Day 2 mission, my mission was a lot tougher than first day. My IC was still Thomas, this time round i lead a 5 men group to rescue 2 hostages from the hostage hut.. During the rescue, my group keep retreating and going forward to rescue hostage.. At the end of the day, i send in 2 men, a navigator and a demod.. My medic was not able to go in cause he was too big size.. the moment he step onto the poles the whole structure give way.. Tank approaching! I asked my 2 buddies who are inside to try to move them.. Due to the serious injuries of the hostage and my medic not able to go in to give medical attention and the approaching tank. The whole exercise was a failure, but we still do what was task to do..

Sit Test was a test use by the saf to look for prospective commander. The success and failure of the mission was not not important. It is the process that the assesor look for that they decide to give them a chance to be the commanders..

My 2nd Confinement Weeks ("7Days FieldCamp")

After the "live" range.. That following Saturday was my 7 Days fieldcamp.. Before the camp we are busy packing our fieldpack (the green bag) and our section rations (food) and resupply bag..

On the set off day, the weather was so hot in the morning that even before we set off.. My entire uniform was already wet with sweat and the weight of my fieldpack was pulling me down to the ground.. Luckily before i had a chance to fall, my company move on to have our 8Km route march to our campsite 1, Pulau Tekong Reservoir.

Over there i tasted my first revise set of combat ration, it was heavenly.. Totally different from the impression of how bad and how inedible it is.. The foods was nice, majority I would say.. After lunch, we had our lecture and training throughout the next 2 days. Until Day 3, we move to our next campsite location, 6Km route march to Oil Palm.
Day 3 morning was a killing one, SBO attire run up and down a slope for our 5BX. My legs went numb after that. Somemore after breakfast, still have 6Km route march to our next campsite.. Lucky, it was in SBO and not FBO. Otherwise i think i will be falling out for the route march.. Many will do likewise also.. haha =)

When we are at the oil palm, we were spread out inside the oil palm plantation in a triangle formation. My sleeping and guarding area was at the almost extreme corner of the entire campsite. it was so fast away that everytime before we fall in i need to leave my area 5 mins early inorder to fall in on time.. I also experience my first outfield no light guard duty without knowing what might charge at u.. could be wild bore or some big rat or some don't know things looking at u in the inner part of the oil palm plantation.. That night, there was a lot of movement inside the inner oil palm plantation and adding to that was loud snoring sound of some of my platoon mate.. I try not to look too far inward cause i scared, somemore is the hungry ghost month.. On the second night, i heard that there are a big rat intrusion.. i need not have to do guard duty for that night as i have done it on the first.. But who care cause by 9pm, after the roaring sound of helicopters that flew past above our head.. I doze off.. Only till the next morning then i wake up.. After breakfast and shiong 5BX with run.. We have our test throughout the whole day on how to attack a target in group n section. After the test, we have a simulated real battle.. We did a well done job for the simulated battle.. Around evening we do a 3Km route march/ night confident walk to our next and last campsite, the reclaim land.

When we reached, it was already pitch dark.. After we get our bag and powder bath ourself.. We went to bed.. That night was the best night of all, cool wind and the sky was packed with stars. Too bad cannot bring camera otherwise i would have taken some shot.. And not to mention also commando, not the human commando but the mosquito commando.. the moment u stand there and dun move, they will sting u.. even ur uniform also can't protect u fully from the sting.. The next day, we dig our trench/grave.. The entire morning, i was digging and digging and digging only till late afternoon then i finish my trench which is also my bed cause i am going to slp inside for a night.. That night was a very uncomfortable night, worrying of centipide that might crawl inside and my trench length was not long enough so i cannot fully stretch out... I wake up alot of time that night, forcing myself to sleep.. But that night all our mood was, who cares whether we have enough sleep anot.. Cause tml we will all be inside our bunk, drinking cold drink and sleeping on comfortable bed..

Day 7, we wake up with no 5BX.. I cover up the trench that i dig using the entire yesterday in less than 30mins.. After that, we route march another 4km to the BIC ground at the old sispec school.. Which is the last event of the fieldcamp.. When its my turn i take up my position at the 10th position, the moment i crawl out of the cover.. I was stun, the journey was abt 100m.. I can't stand up and run cause there are real bullets firing from GPMG flying above my head.. All i could do was leopard crawl and back crawl all the way till i reached the other side of the 100m.. Half way through the journey i was totally wore out, my elbow and knee were in pain. I keep crawling and crawling cause at my pathway.. there is a GPMG firing above my head. The sound was so loud that i don't want to stay there for any single second.. When i finish the BIC, i could feel a sense of achievement.. the feeling was real great that cannot be describe by words..

At the end, we hop onto the 5-tonner (vehicles) all the way back to the company line.. =)
